    Default How many miles..........???

Im currently looking at the 2.2 SRi or the 2.0T veccys...

I know they are both pritty reliable engines...

the only thing i wondered, as the ones im looking at are all 80k + miles...

And mostly have full service history....

Just wondered how many miles these engines will be able to do...

Say if i was looking at a 2.2 SRi with 100k... would that engine be close to the end of its life or still have pleanty go give?

I'd go for the 2.0T .. if the car has been maintained well a Vec should exceed 200k plus. That's what they are built for

Just make sure the cam chains are ok, or have it replaced just after purchase for piece of mind

How long they will last is an unknown. However it all depends on how they are and more importantly have been treated.

If its been serviced with quality oil then it should easily last 150k+, however a poorly treated engine maybe on its last legs at 80k already.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Given an engine option .... i would opt for 2.0T

BUT as said above .... every engines going to be different dependant on how its been treated and serviced ...

a well serviced engine would HOPEFULLY be better than one thats not been regularly serviced in theory but who knows

for example ....there are plenty of people on here well in excess of the 100k club but others hoave had issues at much lower mileages ...then theres the other wear and tear items

    brakes /gearbox/clutch/suspension etc ......

if possible spend more buy newer and lower mileage ...could save you money on unwanted bills in the long run

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

I owned a 2.2 direct, 3 fuel filters - then at 130,000 she was belching blue smoke and burning over 1ltr of oil every tank of fuel (350 miles!!) - needless to say I ws not prepared to drop a new engine in!! - 2.0 T really seems to be the bomb proof engine on here.

Think i might have to go and see the Turbo one then Also having the turbo could be more fun lol.

Can you change the boost etc like with other turbo engines?

a newer car with a high mileage is probably a better bet than a much older car with an average mileage. You have to take into consideration age not just mileage. Older cars will start needing all sorts of things like suspension, brakes, discs, clutch...etc. a newer car will still be pretty good even with a higher mileage and if it's a company car it would have done all the miles on the motorways, a lot less stressful for the engine and it would be well serviced as well.
