interesting read that, thanks for taking the time to post it up...
The missus owns a renault megane with keyless entry and there is no way it goes off at 26feet! Its more like 3 or 4 exactly the same as my mates keyless car. The person taking the signal would have to be sitting her handbag lol
Good read and on an interesting point I have found my neighbour one door down can unlock my car when he locks his vectra. I could not understand why mine would be unlocked in the morning. Anyone else had an issue with this?
Oh great, im about to look at buying a new car with keyless entry and a start stop button on the dash..
i can open my doors on my meg from about 50 feet by pressing the button i havent got the keyless activated so even if it was activated even halfing that distance rite i posted this on vvoc and theres a guy on there pete.rob and he can open and start his car with his key card left in his bedroom and his car on the drive here is his post
Found this out 4 days after having mine, i always took my keys to bed with me. Had a thought 1 night as the car is below my bedroom. Popped out leaving the keys in the bedroom, low and behold the car started and opened no prob's. So have to now hide my keys in a different place. Im not to happy with this idea now but i will be getting one of those steering disc locks which are pretty good.
but here is the solution

No idea if its true or not though as ive never tested it ?
pete.rob posted (Will try it in a minute and let you know)
the answer was
(Its true, wrapped my key in tin foil, put it in my pocket walked to car and it wouldnt open)
does the car not require the transponder to be in the vicinty of it to keep going. This would be a PITA if someone used the tech to steal stuff from your car, but once started, without the transponder, the thief could only get so far (measureable in feet)
I hope the car i'm looking at buying has a transponder so it can't get far, although i'm going to have a tracker fitted and one tracker i've seen needs a small card to be present on the driver, without this card the car will alert the tracking company if the car is moved.. Either that or I have the keyless entry and start de-activated..
If you start the car and then walk away with 2 or 3 feet it cuts out. Even when she has thrown the keys on the porch table the car has remained locked. She has push start as well Big Pete.
My Laguna has keyless entry and start!, You have to be inside the car for the Keyless start to work.....BUT once started, i can walk away with Keycard and the car can be driven without it cutting out, it just beeps all the time saying 'Keycard not detected' in the display.
Good design????..................NO!!! just a gimick for lazy pepole!
