    Default 2 problems

Doing a car service next week on a mates car 1.9 cdti think it is a 54 plate and the heater only blows cold the temp stays on min and does not move. I am to believe that this is the thermostat problem before i order one

The second problem is that the aux belt tensioner make a noise and is it this one from e bay ppl

It sounds like the thermostat thats at fault, but check and see if both heater hoses that go into the bulkhead are hot, if they are it could be a problem with the air blend flap or its linkage inside the heater box. The tensioner in the link will not fit the 1.9 cdti models, its for the 2.0/2.2 litre diesel engines

another way to see if it is the thermostat is that if the car is left to idle then the temp will rise until the fans cut in as there is no air flow over the rad to cool it. This would then give you hot air through the heater.
