HELP!! swapping my CDR2005 for NCDC2013

Hi all

I've got a 2002 pre-facelift GSi - which i wanted to to change and upgrade the CD headunit and screen, to a satnav version and colour screen.

I obtained a NCDC 2013 and screen which i was told are paired and are fully working.

I thought that this would be a straight swap out? am I correct or not?

The old HU came out and the new one slotted in perfectly and the same with the screen, however, the HU turns on and all i hear is static from the radio and i cant switch to CD, in fact no matter which buttons i press nothing seems to happen. The screen turns on fine with vauxhall logo and outside temprature displayed and thats it. the control on the wiper arm doesnt do anything either.

Have i missed something? are these symptoms of non paried units? or is the HU faulty?

Any guidance at all is appreciated or even better if someone could take a look at it for me that would be great - im prepared to travel.

Not a direct replacement mate you have to add wires to stereo and GID check how2 section this will explain everything you need to do

I've been reading the the how2 but to be honest Im not technically minded and for me to to attempt cutting wires and adding connectors etc i simply find daunting.

Do you know of any members that may be able to fit this for me? of course i'm willing to pay for the service. Or even if anyone can do the wiring looms for me and I do the rest?

Hi ive read your PM now.

Well you cant do it without adding wires.. theres a minimum of wires that you will need to add, as per the how2, but can all be done outside the car, if wanted ive used a SOT lead, so i had that to cut and solder.

And im not technical minded either.. so when i can make a how2 out of it.. (taking a few months), now i would think, if all bits present i could do it in about 1 hour..

can anyone elbarate please i no there is a how2 but thats for ncdc2013 and a cid not a gid how meny wires are needed to be added as am helpin do this next week thanks

o it is a colour screen we are puttin in lol

only difference between CID and GID is the 6 wires that goes in seperat plug.

o ok mate so we defo need this other plug otherwise it wont work
