just a fine is getting off lightly, normally they cease car these days from watching road wars, and charge a ridiculous amount to cover there recovery and storage

The Tax Disk we have in our windscreens, clear to see when its about to expire, and yet the DVLA also send us a letter to remind us its about to expire.. The MoT certificate we hide away in a drawer at home, but the DVLA dont send reminders for the MoT... Daft aint it..

Normally there is a piece you can peel off MOT certificate.. self adhesive to stick to the windscreen with the expiry date on to remind you

    Cease???

Cars don't get seized for no MOT. It's a £60 FPN and no points. That's it. It's not actually hard to know when your MOT runs out.

As for cost of recovery. The Police don't make a penny, it goes to the recovery operator. Anybody driving around without insurance or a licence deserves everything they get.

Agree. There are measures to help remind you when to get an MOT. A lot of garages will even send a letter saying its almost a year since they last did it!

so you can get your car seized for no tax, (just a piece of paper really), yet they just give you a fine and let you on the way for no mot, which could potentially be a dangerous unroadworthy car hence no mot?
