    Default Exhaust flexi pipe

Hi all, i have a powerflow dual exhaust that was fittted in oct 08, part back end last year and up to now i have had this cluncking when i go over speed bumps, i have just had a phone call from arnold clark saying its the flexi pipe, they didnt say exactly whays happened but they said because my exhaust has been modified they got to get in touch with the claims dept which was shut (do they only do half day on fridays, weird) because the pipe is very expensive, car is still under guarantee, the sound that i get sounds like its coming from down by the accelerator area, but my thinking is despite what exhaust you have and been fitted correctly the flexi pipe is designed to flex and shoudnt have any bearing on modded exhaust, any way im going to get it on the ramp and get them to show me exactly what the problem is and if its knackered what are the chances of getting it done free, ill report back when i get home.

they will say that the flexi was put under pressure when the new system was being fitted, whicj can be true.
the vectra flexi snapping is a common fault,so if it was slightly rusty or what ever, wiggling the old system of and new system on could have made it worse.a custom exhaust specialist in your area should be able to help.as the vaux part is down pipe and cat if i remember right...very expensive.we get lots of taxis in as simon can cut out the flexi and replace it..usualy £75 which is a big saving.
so bear that in mind if they say no.dont buy a new part, just get the flexi replaced by a custom place.

right, got car back and they said it was knocking, well i have had the car jacked up and given it a good wobble and im getting no clunking and its only done 6500 miles and there no rust or anything, i think they dont no what there talking about, even the guy who came out on a test run said it was coming from the wheel side, i think it could be the anti roll bars which only happens at slow speed going over the speed bumps, but they said theres no play or anything but from what ive read they are common problem and even though there no play people on here changed them and the clunking gone, what your thoughts on that aspect.

my flexi is the same as the above pic, the section of pipe with the flexi is also the downpipe then connects to the cat, is there nowhere that does a stainless section to replace that part?

how weird is this, i have just been out and went over the same speed bumps and now im getting no clunking, i dont know if this is because the wheels have been off the ground and something is seating differently, this is completely baffling me.

If yours is not blowing and the flexi is all ok the outer braiding is just corroded and this may make a rattling noise a simple fix is a large jubilee clip undo the clip and fit over braiding and nip it up, This will stop it rattling.
