    Default Facelift Headlight Bulbs

Is it me of is TIS actually quite poor in terms of providing information!?! Maybe I'm just not using it correctly or headlights are considered to be too basic to cover in details ... I dunno.

Anyway reading Rikkiola's thread and seeing that RGS have a special offer on at the moment I thought that I should change my headlights too (always felt the dipped beam on the Vectra was really weak). I can't find anywhere in TIS or the owners manual though that state what bulb I should be using ( I tried to look at existing ones but there isn't a lot of room to manouvere and I don't want to remove the bumper and/or air box until I have to).

So my question is ... does anyone know if the Facelift uses H7 for the dipped beam and W5W(?) for side lights? Or to put it another way ... would these be the right things to buy?: http://www.redgriffin.co.uk/proddeta...d=PBVH7&cat=69 and http://www.redgriffin.co.uk/proddeta...=PBVW5W&cat=69

    Thanks in advance guys!

I don't know if it is what you are looking for, but there's something about it in this thread where they say the main beam is H1, and dip is H7.
I don't have a clue if it is right though - I have a pre-facelift. My 1978 Viva uses H1s so it might not be right....

Facelift, non-xenon, is indeed H7 for the dipped beam and H1 for main and W5W as sidelights.

And if you succeed in replacing the sidelights, please tell me how you did it... I tried to do it yesterday and my hands are still painfull but I didn't succeed in pulling them out (they are almost behind the H1-holder so there is not much place)

Thanks guys, I'll go ahead and order then ... I was thinking of removing the airbox for the right side and popping the bumper out, then removing the headlight for the left side.

There's a "How to" for headlight bulbs here if it is any help.

It looks like a lot of work for replacing a couple of bulbs...
Brighter lights are always good though!

There was no need to remove anything for changing the H7 and H1 bulbs (except for the washer bottle filler neck), only the sidelights went wrong: I think you have to pull, but there is no room to use any force. And the other ones - don' find the English word - the orange flashing ones seems to be impossible to replace without dismanteling the whole unit

Thanks for that, I have seen a few threads, not dure I'd seen that one but others suggest doing the same thing. TIS disagrees though - it says to remove the airbox for one side and the ENTIRE Bumper for the other side

I thought the Airbox will be easier than the bumper and as sig63 says ... just the washer filler neck for the other ... not much space at all though.

Sig63 ... is there a clip holding in the dipped beam bulb ... I tried to remove yeasterday but didn't want to force and it wasn't coming easliy.

    Cheers

Not one that you can see; you have to push it in a little at one side and then you will remark the other side will come out

(and you don't have to turn it ... as I tried first)
