    Angry Severely Cheesed Off!

Picked my car up from the dealers yesterday after having some work done to it, it was dark so didn't notice the big scratch on the rear bumper!

Not a happy bunny, most of it can be polished out, but the bit where the paint is clearly scapped off, can't . It's right on the angled part near the rear off side light.

Will be phoning the dealer at 8am and having a rant.

Have had no luck with this car since I bought it

Oh, not good bud, take some pics for evidence in case you need them later on.

Try not to be rude to them on the phone, a this will get you no where.

stay calm, and listen to what they are prepared to do if any. then you might need the photos for some evidence.

Oh definitely! As they have always been very good and accomodating where ever they can. Just really frustrated and nigh on impossible to prove it was done whilst at the dealers.

I had this haopen to me last year when I had my thermostat done. They denied it was them, but after a heated debate they agreed to get it replaced!
This year, while having my mot done, another garage damaged my front colour coded mud flaps while getting it on the ramp. They denied it too, but when I found some of the clips that hold them on on the garage floor there wasn't much they could say. They supplied another set, I just need to spray them myself again!!

    Hope you get it sorted.

Sorry to hear that mate. The point is that it may be very hard to prove. They may say that this could happen everywhere and this scratch could be even here before :/
Once I had similar situation and I couldn't do anything. Guy at the dealer's was just listening to me and smiling. Maybe it was also my mistake that I didn't keep fighting but gave up after this disconcerting conversation

did they complete a walk around inspection of your car when you took it in?

if they did this would highlight any scratches and marks dents etc which helps them AND you in cases like this

they will probably claim that the "incident" took place in the car park and that the car is left at the owners risk

i had a similar issue with an old car which went in for a bonnet respray when i collected it there was a mark on the front bumper

they denied causing the mark and i demanded to see the check in sheet
which they failed to complete ... so there immediately on the back foot

i then demanded to see the job card and when i saw the technicians name i then asked to see his trim removal tool ......strangely enough the marks fitted perfectly .

good luck mate .... its not an easy one but as above press them for the check in sheet ... if they havent completed one they cannot disprove that any damage was there before and if you were not present when they inspected the car then you can say its not applicable anyway because they ARE supposed to check it in with the customer present

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

In reality, I think that is what is going to happen.

Nope, definitely did not do this and didn't do it when the car was handed back, certainly not with me being present.

Caffyns in Tunbridge Wells, what used to be Pipers.

They have always been very good, my dad won't take his car anywhere else and I have had numerous things done there both mechanically and body works wise and never had an issue until now.

What also really gets my goat is that I've spent just short of £500.00 with them in the last week or so as well.

Never used them, phoned them once about replacing the passenger side wiper linkage and they wanted £48 to diagnose the fault even though I told them what needed replacing

Always use Goldsmith & Allcorn in Uckfield now.
