    Default VVT

Hi, this may seem a stupid question, but is there any way to tell a 1.8 sri and a 1.8 vvt sri apart because i always assumed my stepdads car which i am about to buy was a plain 1.8. Untill the other day i just ran this stupid reg plate checker app on my phone and it came back as 140bhp which i think is vvt ?

Also abit off topic but will the HID's off my old cupra r work on an 06 veccy ? i am aware some newer cars have some sort of system that requires a different type of HID. CANBUS i think its called but these are just plain h7 8000k's of a 53 plate leon. cheers

The only way would be to look at the engine I would guess, for some reason the 1.8 seems to be the only vectra that does not show the type on boot?

No other external reference points I think.

If you at the left hand side of the rocker cover, there are 2 sensors opposite each other, one at front and one at back. If they're there then its VVT.

I think thermostat position might be different as well, VVT's have them above the gearbox. Not 100% on that one though.

    PS, the year that all 1.8's became VVT's was 06 / 56.

    Correct.

Oil filler cap on the VVT is on the top right side of the rocker cover, the 1.8 16v front left.
