There has been a considerable amount of discussion surrounding the Ultimate Finish Car of the Month Competition over the last few days.

You will no doubt be aware that the competition involves members of the public voting for the car of their choice, the vote is in the form of a short comment.

Once our system receives a vote/comment, it automatically sends an email to the address entered requesting validation. If this email is not responded to through the link provided then the vote will not be counted. This ensures the email address is valid. If our system detects multiple emails from the same IP address, it allows the first vote but disallows any subsequent votes, even if they are from a different email address.

This month we discovered multiple cases of inappropriate voting for several entrants where the IP address had been artificially changed in an attempt to get around our terms and conditions. The appropriate action was taken for all entrants affected by this and the votes recounted. Inappropriate votes and non-validated votes from emails that did not exist were also deducted from final totals.

At no stage were any of February’s entries disqualified.

Ultimate Finish would like to make it clear that Khalid Sabir acted with integrity throughout the competition and has not been in any way “disqualified” for the events that have transpired. Unfortunately when the votes were recounted his total was not enough for his entry to win.

After discussions with Khalid, Ultimate Finish accepts responsibility for some of the confusion and as a token of goodwill has made a contribution to Khalid’s chosen charity.

Ultimate Finish appreciates the passion Vectra-C-Sigma forum members have for their vehicles and for their fellow members. Please be assured that Ultimate Finish is continuing to take measures to prevent a recurrence of this type of event.

Tbh I can't see how you have reached this decision because they were only 1 point behind each other 83 & 84 and all of them 83 votes for Khalid were valid votes ! So if you removed all the votes from the so called winner Khalid should be the winner !
Plus there are numerous member on here that voted when he was stuck on 83 including myself and they were confirmed via email but his score stayed the same !!!

I didn't even know about this competion!!
If I had, I would have voted, especially considering Khalid's noble intentions towards my charitable efforts!! I am selfishly happy with the outcome.

But lets hope that next time, the best man wins!!!

this is pretty poor tbh. khalid was by far the better car yet cheating has been allowed and nothing gets sorted. i had many of my friends check this site out and they voted/confirmed the emails yet the count still stayed at 83 for khalid?! :S

Thanks for clarifying that Khalid was not cheating.

However to say that no one was disqualified is untrue.

You were very quick off the mark to disqualify the Vectra when you first heard about the IP addresses being altered (even sending me a very curt and to the point email when I enquired about the votes not counting) but when it became clear you had banned the wrong car - and by this time you had the additional evidence of the screen shots from the Qashqai forum - in my view you bottled it.

I'm not going to waste any more of my time on one of the most arrogant and patronising statements I've read in a long time. Do you really think we are that stupid?

Just want to add.

Khalid as most of you know is one of the most helpful guys on here. His detailing skills along with Bob, Ian, Dean and a few others from that pocket of the country are about as good as what you will get. That team have produced some of the best cars seen on here.

I do know that Khalid is anxious to move on now. He along with everyone else has a choice. There are plenty of other detailing companies out there and you can use them to maximise your important vote of all. Where you spend your money.
