eBay Scammers

Typed in 'VXR' yesterday into eBay search..... one thing JUMPED out at me..

2005 Astra VXR Black - 2,555 miles, slight kerb damage but imaculate etc.... (Loverly pictures displayed also, but noted that the number plate had been etched out)

BUY IT NOW PRICE = £4,700 with 17 hours left to bid....

So I emailed the seller and got this email reply.....

Hi,
Thank you for your email, and sorry for my late reply. I bought this car from UK and is registred in UK under my name and I am the first and only owner. I can let you know that the car has 2555 miles and the last oil change was at 2000. It has a clean UK title, HPI clear and history service no scratches or dents, and it runs perfectly and there is no outstanding finance on the car. I've took it for a drive before I left UK, and I didn't drove it since then. It also has V5 present. Anyway I have service book for it. The car is now in Berlin, Germany with me, and it is crated as I received it, when I've moved here 1 month ago, because I found a better job. I've tried to register it here but it has right hand wheel, and to make it street legal, I'll have to pay around 1100GBP money which I cannot afford because I want to buy a house, so I've decided to sell it. The total price that you'll have to pay for this car is 4700GBP price that includes shipping taxes and insurance. All of my transactions until now were made under eBay's protection, and for that I wish that we make this deal also with eBay's protection. If you agree with moving forward with the deal through eBay please email me your full name and shipping address. As soon as I receive these information from you I will forward them to eBay SquareTrade along with the rest of the details in order for them to open a case regarding our deal. I am waiting for email as soon as possible.

it does sound more authentic than the usual - somebody would've fallen for that i'm sure!!

i bet you were drooling all over your keyboard steve at that prospect!

It is better than the average scam - unfortunately.
The only thing that gave it away for a quick read is that they wrote "GBP" rather than £. Also the Squaretrade stuff is total male cow waste - they open a case if you're ripped off (which you would be if you bought that) not to flog something.

I suppose it comes down to "If it seems too good to be true, it is" .
