Default Signum 3.0 V6 CDTI Cam Belt

    Hi

Cam belt needs changing on my Signum but my mechanic friend has not done a V6 diesel before and his Autodata (up to 2004) book doesn't show it. Has anyone got up to date diagrams etc I could have copies of please?

    They are here, somewhere
    Search Y30DT cambelt :
    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...=Y30DT+cambelt (see page two)

Ask for the cambelt kit to be fitted, and ask for the old parts back

Just make sure the valve clearances are checked once the cambelt is replaced

Make sure all the tensioners are replaced also. Please note that there is an additional pulley /wheel required that is not in the kit.

Just out of interest who is doing it for you ?

The reason i ask is that a friend of mine who i have known for 20 yrs (so he will not rip me off),could not even buy the cambelt kit as cheap as vauxhall could do the whole job !!!!!!!

Full cambelt and interim service was £502 inc vat from Vauxhall and you get the all important stamp in your service book.

Dont just assume that a local garage may be cheaper than the vauxhall dealer.

Had cambelt done on mine and no need to write the car off
Cambelt change was paid for by VX under service component of warranty
Dealership only wanted to replace the cambelt, but I pointed out all the additional work that was required, "oh, er, wasn't aware of that"
During the quote they advised it would take two hours, but when I asked why the info on TIS states six hours, and they quickly changed their tune when they checked
On completion he agreed the cambelt itself was two hours, but he still managed all that they listed in just under five hours

No idea as it was all paid for under the warranty policy and the invoice was cambelt renewal labour 5.0 hours
However, it took them about an hour after the cambelt was changed
They did the cambelt from 08:00 to 12:00, then completed the valve clearances at about 13:15 (thankfully the mechanic didn't stop for lunch at 13:00)
