Every time I have had work done on my car I have watched
I have heard of all kinds of reports and scams, but so far never had any issues

At least you asked in advance for a quote
Imagine what happens when people drive in, "A wheel alignment check please"
They are then presented with the invoice, "eeek, what's that for?"

    Report them to head-office
I would guess that head-office set the charges
Sounds to me when compaired to my local merit , that your local merit is playing the one for them and one in the pocket for me game.

John when i first went to try to make an appointment yesterday they quoted £76.60 for a four wheel toe allignment or if it was just camber allignment then £24 each so it seems like they actually have a policy of charging for each adjustment
    Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years
    and still loving it

Even a dealership can beat that quote!
Also KwikFit can do that for about £25 (which is still too expensive for such a simple job)

At £24 per wheel for a camber adjustment is more like what a dealership would charge (but most don't have the equipment)
Sounds like they may be a sub-contractor to a dealership and feel it is fair to charge the same price

Too expensive, visit the website already recommended, oh and make sure they use the correct settings for the Vectra C and not the generic ones (as displayed on the screen)

You won't be disappointed . Even if Tony doesn't do it himself, his guys know what they're doing. You're free to walk round under the car and ask any questions you have at the time. The first time I went to WIM, Tony's first question was "how much fuel in the tank?". Ideally he likes to see around half a tank, followed by "how often do you carry a passenger?"

As an aside, I did suggest a couple of years ago that we had a meet at WIM. Tony often does meets for Ferrari owners clubs and the like. It would be different from RR days, detailing days etc., and a lot of Vec-C owners would learn a lot about geometry.

    Just a thought

I am part of a rally service crew and run a small workshop that can often get involved in "suspension set-up"

I always budget apprx £35 - £50 for a "simple" laser 4 wheel alignment check and MINOR adjustments as required

But what you all must realise is that a lot of cars allow little more than MINOR adjustments which is sometime far from adequate for what your car may require

To obtain correct castor camber KPi and of course track often requires a lot of sweat and time and elongating or even repositioning of suspension pick up points

Not for 1 minute do I think that a "high street" tyre shop will even begin to alter ANY car more than what MINOR adjustments will allow

Also corner weights and pre-load of vehicle weight needs to be considered if you want to be really anal about Wheel Alignment

High Street tyre shops simply use Tracking/Wheel Alignment as a nice easy "hi-profit" income stream and unless you manage to find an employee of such an establishment that gives a damn about your car then I suggest you have "tracking" done at your peril as you will probarbly have the high pressure sales pitch thrust upon you and your prized possesion car will no doubt suddenly need a pair of track rod ends, 2 new outer CV Boots as miraculously they appear to have split and the grease is just starting to leak, brake discs, pads, 4 shocks and that minute pershing on your tyres sidewall will EXPLODE if you dare go any where near 70 mph !
