    Eek Holy cow!

Just took my car to get the driveshaft gaitors replaced and i asked him to check over the brakes and suspension.

He called me an hour later with the list of what he had found:

Front discs goosed (new pads and discs)
5 brake pipes excessively corroded (replace)
    o/s balljoint goosed (replace)
    front suspension arms goosed (replace)
    rear suspension arms goosed (replace)
full Hunter alignment because of above

and a few other bits I can't remember through the tears

    Bill: £1200

Did way up the cost of repairs against getting another car. The engine never misses a beat and has never let me down. The suspension on the other hand... well...

I really need my car to be spot on as i'm doing in excess of 500 miles per week (motorway).

But i'm gutted to say the least. Wish i'd have listened when my Dad was teaching me car stuff all those years ago!

Is this a garage you know and trust? Or someone trying a fast one?

He is someone i trust and he does a good job!

This is the second opinion after having had a "full vehicle check" done by the stealers last week.

He was suprised at how much they hadn't picked up. They checked the brakes but didn't pick up that my brake pipes were a rusty bubbly colour.

I do feel like it's a big decision, but i'm so reliant on the car to be "ok" that i can't take any chances.

I don't understand why the engines on Vaux's are so damn good, and then they go and ruin it by making everything else out of chocolate

    WTF!?!

Front discs goosed (new pads and discs)
o/s balljoint goosed (replace) < on the lower arm anyway
    front suspension arms goosed (replace)
    rear suspension arms goosed (replace)

I can get those parts for just under £330.00 inc vat.. so that magical figure is a bit high

It only got mot'd a few months ago and flew through

I'm now getting a very bad feeling about this

He is keeping the car until tomorrow to get the work done and i'm now tempted to ring him and say stop where you are!

Yesterday was a good day, today is a bit poop
