Default How do you VXR guys cope!?!

Ive recntly been working on the mrs to swap our 2.2DTi for either a GSI or VXR. I thought it might be a good idea to have all the facts ready for any heated debates on the issue, so along with insurance group details, I had a look at road tax. The GSI seems fairly reasonable at £245 a year but I nearly choked on my cuppa when I saw that the VXR is £425 a year! How the hell can anyone afford that!

Have you seen the 'salaries' thread

I guess the VXR owners disposable income is higher than average, not all of us want BMW's and Audi's or huge debts

Nothing wrong with the Vectra VXR

But that doesnt mean to say any of us are rich, because I suspect we're not

Unless you get the 55 plate , and before , then the tax stays the same

I hadn't seen it until now. I guess it's just one of those things that goes into considering how you spend your hard earned. Along with servicing, parts etc...

As spoons says - it's all about disposable income mate. If you can afford the fuel economy you get from a car like the VXR, and the insurance, the road tax is probably a minor issue.

    It's a bit like incest - it's all relative...

My disposable income is probably below average, but I think its more to do with priorities. I only do 6000 odd miles a year so i prfer to enjoy them. Plus Vecs are a bit cheaper then there rivals and I dont like audis or bmws

I now only do a few miles (which is why I was looking at the swap) and I would consider our income to be fairly substantial (with no debts) but i would feel sick handing over that amount of money once a year just to bounce through all the pot holes.

Oh well, no VXR for me I guess.

one thing to consider is mpg. I might be wrong but I think thoes with manual VXr's have got better mpg then those with GSI's!

Someone will confirm this im sure.

Or as said find a 55 plate
