No offence you need to go shopping yourself and look at the prices there not going to be cheap and you may get a shock at new.

Low profile wheels and tyres at profile of 45/50 will give a harder ride to those of 55 or above, so for example 225,45,18 i wouldnt like to drive over any speed bumps.

    215/55/16 much more comfy.

Since I have put eibach springs on my car (with standard facelift SRi alloys and standard suspension) it feels like my car is going to rattle apart when going over minutely uneven road.

I have noticed that I have started to get some rattling/knocking on the rear of the car which I am suspecting is the upper control arms being on their way out

I was thinking of upgrading my alloys to a set of 19" snowflakes but with the god awful ride I seem to have now, snowwie's are deffo out of the picture.

Was tempted to get some 16" steelies with winter tyres on for the snowy period but knowing my luck they would feel so comfortable I'd never take them off LOL
    Already replaced:-
    Alternator,
Drilled/Grooved Discs & Pads, Eibach Springs, EGR Valve, 50W HID's 6000k, K&N Panel Filter, LED footwell & boot lights

i had 19s on my 2.2 direct elite there is going to be a bit of a gap in the arch unless you lower the car i didnt think the ride was to bad on mine ,i have owned a good few cars thats been lowerd and they do feel the bumps more, its down to a trade off as in what your after out and out looks or comfort

When I lowered my car using eibachs I didn't feel a negative change in ride quality. It was more controlled and stable without being harsh.

Fitting 19's will definatly create a harsh ride though, I have 18's fitted with 235/40/R18 tyres and i'd say there wasn't much of a difference between them and the standard 17's

Don't put 19s on your Elite if it has standard (non-sports non-lowered) suspension (which is what it would have come out of the factory with).

19's and standard suspension will make for a godawfully hard ride. 18's may also be a harder ride than you expect. IMO.
