I hate car insurance and the general insurance industry itself.

I brought the wife (born 13 days before me, same year, same month) a 93 120 bhp sportwagon. We both passed test the same year! Both have full no claims bonus etc etc.

My quote was £648 her quote £247. I think its about time the 'regulators' stepped in and put an end to this! I dont care that I have to pay more its nature of the beast, however I do object to women paying less then half of what I do!!

if they increase insurance costs for my wife its a shame but hey ho deal with it just like I have had to since I was 19 yrs old. Ive been screwed annually for 10 years so I have NO sympathy at all.

But is your wife a member of a forum where she posts up threads about wanting to change the injectors in her engine and go to stage 3? No - and nor are the vast majority of women - and the insurers know that.

It's about time you were viewed for the risk YOU are, and not assumed guilty of 'probably' causing an accident.

With all due respect jezzy the quote was on a basic 1.9 120bhp derv. Not a modified car!

I have a long history of driving hot hatch and modified cars as that’s all I have driven. Still have FULL NO CLAIMS, NO POINTS etc so I would suggest that I am an OK driver. My insurance is always fully disclosed also, so I am not a muppet.

My statement was in reference to the fact we are but 13 days apart in age and two months apart in passing our test, yet her insurance is half what a man is quoted for the SAME vehicle.

Obviously I expect to pay more for my modified cars etc which is fine, merely contesting the fact we pay more as we are male!

May be we should start having eye tests etc as she has eye trouble and needs glasses and will testify my reflexes are much much faster than hers (15 years martial arts training) so she can not see as well as I can nor can she react as quickly compared to me.........................................I would imagine that would be discrimination to those who wear glasses though eh, shame the tackle you were born with is though!

My mothers car insurance is cheaper than my fathers (SAME CAR) we always quote on both at renewal.

Funnily enough he is two years older and in fine health. She however suffers from an hereditary illness which affects the nervous system (similar to motor neurones) yet she is ALWAYS cheaper than he is. She can barely walk and is crippled with arthritis....the insurance industry has and is still a big FARSE!!

I'm not saying your higher quote was on a modified car, I'm saying insurers know men are more likely to mod their car to get higher performance from it, (and more likely to be involved in road rage incidents, and more likely to do other stuff that insurers don't like, etc etc).
