Had my 54 plate 3.2 GSi about 2 years now... not had one single problem to date. OK not the world's most economic car, but not too bad either and immense fun when you make good use of the power.
Running costs are really going to depend primarily on your mileage and driving style.... go easy most of the time, make good use of cruise control, keep tyres at right pressure, don't have boot full of junk, etc ... all the usual economy guidelines and you can happily average around the 28 mpg mark.

great fun to drive, not had any major problems with mine 54 plate with 70k. couple of little niggles but all sorted for very little cash. few mods and they really stand out on the road.

only owned mine for a couple of months and love it. become very good friends with the staff at my local petrol station as well! total bonus!!

very good engines. expect about a 26mpg average (thats what I had from mine) and they are not in the £400+ tax band.

Faults: The oil breathers get blocked, and if not cleaned out then they cause an increase in pressure that blows the rocker cover gaskets.

The timing belt needs to be changed every 40k (interval was reduced from 80k by Vauxhall after breakages started occuring). The belt change isn't particularly easy and requires the use of a bespoke cam-locking kit.

Not got the GSI , 3.2 Elite but its a great car, smooth engine, i get about 29mpg not good but not too bad, 40k timing belt appears to be a rumour as i (and others) have checked this with VX, mind you i will not wait until 80k, maybe soon as im on 60k.

Google it, and you'll find plenty of results describing the interval being halved to 40k.
