    Default Front light bulb change

    Hi guys,

getting home today I noticed that while parking my driver side dip beam went off. Warning came on on the dash so I thought I quickly pop in a new one.

God was I surprised to see that this seems a bit of a mission job.
Checked in the handbook quickly and was shocked to read that if its the passenger side, the headlight needs to be removed and it is recommended that this is done by a dealer

Why would any manufacturer make such a simple job so difficult?
Surprised we dont need a dealer to open the car or fill it up with petrol

I was very keen to change all my bulbs to higer grade ones, but after reading that I have to remove the front bumper to get the fog lights changed ... put that on hold. Now I wont even attempt to get the main lights changed to gas filled ones, let alone changing the sidelights to superbright LED's ... I work 5 days a week and havent got time to complicted jobs likes that ...

Its not that bad a job to do tbh
10 mins at the most to take the bumper off
I'm no mechanic and did this when i fitted my H I D kit
Your probably looking at a 20min job at the most honest iwas very suprised how easy it was to do

Pull out the screen wash filler pipe. Just held in by a thick rubber sleeve.

Gives enough room to change bulb.

    Fitted my HIDs this way.

I didnt take my bumper off when I fitted mine, just cut my hands to bits - Hence taking the bumper off ....

Changing the bulbs themselves are a 5 min job, unscrew the cap covering the bulb + wiring, Pull bulb out, pop new bulb in and replace the whole bulb in the unit. Rinse / Repeat. As said, the screen wash filler tube just pulls off and it makes life easier ...and lift up the caps on the fuse box etc....

driver side on the other hand ....hope you have smallish hands

    On the drivers side?
More likely the air filter housing is in the way!

If you think the Vectra is bad, try a Renault...

ha ha, well had a Renault Laguna before and was hoping that German engineering would be more advanced.....

How wrong was I. Who ever designed that on the vauxhall (or originally Opel in germany) obviously spent too much time at the beerfest

I finally managed to get the drivers side low beam changed, but also wanted to swap my sidelights for LED's but gave up after 10 minutes not being able to pull them out ....

Just replaced the parking/Dipped & Main beam bulbs on each side of our Facelift Club spec 'C'.

Passenger Side by removing the Washer bottle neck making access to the rear of the Headlamp more accessible...

Drivers side by removing the air filter box.....a bit fiddly but easier than I thought.....& again making easier access to the rear of the Headlamp.

Didn't remove the front bumper to get access to the headlamp lower fixing brackets to remove the headlamps, because I'd previously fitted front (& rear) after-market parking sensors.

    Cheers
