Reading through, Im wondering why it is the garage that sold the car to 'the asian guy from berkshire' didnt send the V5 away with the new keeper details, something odd that they didnt do this and let the new owner take the V5 away with him?

simply as half the lights do not work are a clear indication that the '114 point check' has not been carried out, therefore the car has not been checked properly thus leaving YOU the buyer, a car with certain hidden surprises, a proven hidden past and definitely NO peace of mind....all of which the Network Q PROMISES you will NOT have.
I'd be back demanding my money back and return the VXR to them - or a suitable no hidden surprises VXR replacement.
Sounds like a right pain that does
Again, it may only be minor repairs and damage but to sell the car without the lights working isnt good.
I cant imagine whats happened other than maybe a light shunt and repaired quickly for resale.
Explains why it had an SRI grille as the VXR ones have to be ordered in... takes a while.
Either way I think you have a right to complain
I suppose as the Vectra VXR gets older there will be more and more out there with hidden pasts..
I suspect your house insurance comes with legal cover, i used this when i wanted to reject a faulty car, the dealership, tried to blag it, saying fine if you want to go the legal route, we'll consult our solicitors and the it will cost you a lot of money, to which i replied i have, it comes with the house insurance up to 50 k's worth and here's a letter they told me to give to you. The manager went into his office to check the letter over, he phoned a few people, ranted at his staff, came out 30 mins later and agreed to everything i asked for.
take it back and get your money back IMO
Absolutely. I'd take it back and reject it. If you notice this, a future buyer most certainly will and you will be haggled down for accident damage, or might just find it really hard to sell full stop. Load both barrels, drive down there and let them have it!
I agree with above I'd be looking my money back. If nothing else I'd be wanting a full break down of what is covered in the 114 point check (broken down point by point).
You may be able to see from the point by point check that part of it wasn't carried out, therefore they have breached their part of the initial sales contract by lying to you that it was done when it wasn't.
