Default Guys, advice, warn you tho its a long one

    Pink or Brown?........... no joking

I bought my VXR about 4 weeks ago.
Upon leaving I was informed that it had been given the "Peter Vardy" 114 point check! oooo

Anyway, on the way home it got dar so put the lights on, Drivers xenon not working (car only done 16k miles).
I called them and it went in a few days later and had bulb replaced.

Next coupld of days, it got foggy, switched them on, Drivers fog gone...
So I though, cant be arsed going back il get one on Ebay. It arrives next day and i get under car to change it, only to find that there is no fod unit AT ALL behind the glass just the wire with no bulb or connector...... (after a closer look under the car a few days later, I find the connection hidden behind the radiotro area with a smashed bulb....

I then had a little look around the wings and its clear that drivers wing has been painted.

I tried to get a contact number for the last owner, but failed so simply hit the "home" button on the sat nav and drove all the way to his house in Aberdeen on Saturday. He was shocked to say the least to see the car, but told me that he had sold the car to a local garage in March 2010.
He is the last name on the V5.

As we were chatting i put the drivers window right down for the first time since owning the car and we both noticed at the same time glass shards in the window rubber of the drivers side..........

I leave, mind beginning to spin. I decided to call the garage that he sold the car too in March. No record of vehicle on their system.........
Then I get a text from last owner saying "I remember seeing the car for sale a month later at ANOTHER garage".
So I called the Other garage, they confirm that they indeed did have the car but they sold it to a man in Berkshire...........

I gain name and address and have tried to get number but not managed, so have sent a recoded delivery letter asking if it was involved in an accident. (awaiting responce)

So I call Pete Vardy, they claim that any accident damage would be picked up by this 114 check.
They also advised that the car was bought, by them, at auction in Surrey in September.

So my car has been floating about in Berkshire, without being registered to the new owner between April and September, in which time it would look like it has been in a smash.

Then, out the blue, i get a phone call from the car garage that sold it to Berkshire guy saying" I remeber him now, an Asian gent, he tried to get us to buy the car back from him roughly 1 - 2 months after he bought it!"

Peter Vardy are advising that there is nothing they can do as the history check came back clean......

Is there nothing i can do?

any help appreciated lads and lasses
    x

Wow that really sucks! Well surely the garage you got it from has to repair any faults with it, however I can't see anything else being done. But you say peter vardy would have picked it up on their check. Which they have not, maybe you could keep pushing them.

    Is it Network Q?

You can reject it up to 30 days after purchase although there are terms and conditions you will need to jump through first.

I remember it had the wrong grille but I didn't follow why that was. Just remember a post about you were OK with that or something.

Looking at past threads it appears you bought it on the 04/02/2011 so well within the 30
    day period.

Gorra go now but the Network Q site is here.

    http://www.networkq.co.uk/the-networ...rship-promise/

    This is their promise:

    Network Q Ownership Promise
The great thing about buying a used car with Network Q is that you know exactly what you're getting. No hidden past, no hidden surprises, just complete peace of mind. Our Ownership Promise covers:

    •Mileage
    •Identity
    •Stolen vehicles
    •Outstanding finance agreements
•Examining Vauxhall's recall register for any recalled parts (Vauxhall models only)
•A replacement vehicle as part of our 30 day exchange pledge, should any of the information we find prove to be incorrect
I'd argue that the bit in bold has not been delivered and it clearly should have been picked up on the check. However the damage may have been a light shunt and I'm not sure Network Q would cover you for that.

(If it's not NetworkQ ignore above!)

It may not be as bad as you think. On my brother vxr corsa (same fog lights) first time we fitted a bulb it fell out (but it did stay on the wire!). And the smashed glass and wing may be nothing sinister either. Easy for a wing to get scrapped when it has been on a forecourt that long and windows get smashed all the time by vandals.

Mine has had the front bumper sprayed due to a knock. It was not through insurance so it would come up clean and its nothing to worry about.

I would be more concerned about the guy who wanted them to take it back after two months and his name not been on the log book. Cars can hang in garages for months and garages often swap stock around to make it look like things are moving. Ask the original owner you met what milage it had on it when he last had it and see if it has been used....

Goodluck. This is the secondhand game many ownera would not notice......

I guess that explains the wrong front grill. The fact that its got the wrong bits fitted, clear paint work repairs, glass in the window, a incomplete front fog light, a xenon out - all on the same side? Would constitute "hidden surprises" to me, plus the fact the garage clearly have not checked it over in their 114 point check.

Does the ecu mileage and speedo recording match? (ask soulman and Plasma how t oc heck this) If not it may have been clocked by this mystery asian owner who didn't even fill in the V5. Something fishy going on there

I feel really sorry for you mate

I'd say this all falls under 'no hidden surprises'. Get them them all listed including the mysterious asian etc.
Important: did you ask Peter Vardy if the vehicle has been involved in any accidents?

If the repair has not gone through insurance it will still be HPI clear.
