Default dirty focus owner among the peoples!

    Hi guys,

I've joined up here from AOC. I had an astra coupe which i sold due to me and the other half having a baby, i purchased a 2002 ford focus for its hatchback size.

Since having the baby (anyone with kids will know this) the size of the buggy completely fills the boot, meaning there is no space for shopping etc etc.

I've been looking into signums for a while and insurance has become reasonable, i'm seriously considering one. I do 120 miles over 4 days for work alone, and then personal mileage on top, so i was thinking diesel. What do i need to look for when i buy one, i.e best spec, best engine, reasonable mileage etc etc.

I'm looking to spend around £2500-£3000. Is ithis figure to optomistic for a reasonable example with reasonable mileage??

Will the signum suit my above needs or am i better off looking at something else?

    Cheers
    Mark.

£2500-3000 will get you something around 2004 with the 2.0 or 2.2DTi engine.

you may be lucky and get a 1.9 but will be higher mileage.

There is one on Autotrader atm on 110k thats a 1.9 but thats it.

alternatively look at a vectra, but yoru need to up your limit for a newer model.

    £5000 will get you a 2006 Estate Vectra or a 05/55 Signum!

Oh and welcome to Vectra-c and congrats on escaping AOC

Give me 6 months to tell you

I just bought a Signum for £2300 on a 2004 with 97k on the clock.

Baby is due in July and that was the whole reason of buying the car.

Bear in mind the Signum doesnt have a proper rear centre seat. May be worth considering..

    Hi Mark 647......

I've got a 2004 Signum with a one year old baby. The boot is fine, we've got a bugaboo buggy, which fits fine in the back, with both the rear seats right back as well. I've never had a vectra, so don't know what they would be like, but the fact the signum rear seats move forward and backward independently mean easy baby access when putting the baby in the car seat.
