Default 2.0 DTI or 2.2 SRI

Hi, im in a pickle were im not sure what to do. I have a vectra c 2.0 DTI 2002 and to be honest, im bored with it. I dont have to commute to work so mainly just weekends i use my car.

Ive always fancied an SRI and i have the chance of a p/x for a 2.2 SRI.

What do you guys think of the 2.2? i dont know much about it or the 2.0 DTI either.

Ive owned my diesel for over a year now but it bores me to death as i think its slow and i think going back to petrol is the way forward with it being more pockey and responsive.

Im not overally worried about running cost of fuel and so on as i dont use it much.

Are the 2.2 engine crap or prone to going wrong alot?

Ive read that they are chain driven, well is that such a good thing or bad?

Can i have some input from you vectra enthusiastics as im new the the vectra and vauxhall as a whole

    Thanks

right , you'll certainly like the power increase but if its a non direct 2.2 you may find your best friends with the teller at you local petrol station ! they are thirsty barstewards ! full history with a chain change is near enough a must too

2.2 is a good engine. It's chain. chain is generally deemed to be safer than cambelt, however it is goes you are completely stuffed!

Officially they don't need changing but i think the reccomendation is 100k by people on here (Never owned chain for long enough so not sure).

Key reas on the 2.2 i'm not 100% on so will let others help. Do know there pretty sprightly though!

    key reas?

havent seen it yet but he says it has history with the car but not sure on drive chain as yet.

Is it expensive to have the drive chain replaced just to be on the safe side and how much am i looking at?

I know different garages will give different quotes but is there a rough estimate an average garage would charge as i think id defo want to be ont he safe side.

And im not sure if its the direct, how will i know?

its a 2003 2.2 sri if that helps?

The SRi is only 15mm lower than a standard Vec so you may want lowering springs for it.
