Default Why are tyres so expensive.......

Im looking at tyres for my sri and i cant believe how expensive they are for the standard size!!!!!

a friend has mentioned that you can put a different size on as they are a bit cheaper!!

Im having a mare with the search engine tonight so does anyone know what the other size is that you can fit??

are there any downsides to fitting a different size??

    cheers

    steve

i'm assuming you have the standard sri alloys? with the 215 50 17 tyres on them? if so then the cheaper tyres are the 225 45 17, i put 4 of them on mine when i got the car in november and it cost me £284 for kumho ecsta tyres fully fitted and balanced

Normally standard tyres on 17" are 215/50/17, try looking for 225/45/17 as alot of people go for these.
As for the last comment i've got 19" snowflakes too and will need some new rubber in the next few months, Deztroyer at the mo is running the Neuton NT5000 in 17's but they also do them in 19's at approx £90 each. They are reportedly very good and i've heard that they are made by Yokohama.

They are not actually Yokohamas, they make them. Search for Neo Brothers as they are the sole distributer in the UK plus they also sell them on ebay.
