    Default insurance advice

was t boned yesterday near M6 toll by white van man who admitted liability

Damaged rear door and scuffed alloy wheel- so I'm intending to claim on his insurance as he's obviously at fault

anyone now if he can claim on my insurance for his damage- even if it's his fault- dont fancy losing a life on my protected no claims...

Also wondering whether I can get them to pay the repair quoteinc. cost of new alloy and just get it refurbed, and pocket the difference or is it all billed to repair garage directly?

    Bad luck Mike.

Procedure is normally you contact your insurance company - explain whats has happened - pass on the details of the other party - His name , address , Phone number , VRM etc.
At this point your insurance company will ask you to take your car to one of its approved repairers - where they will evaluate damage and get it booked in for the work to be done.
Whilst all this is happening you insurance company will be speaking to white van mans insurance company - deciding who is to blame. Once they have decided that its the other parties fault its all plain sailing.
Your ins. company will contact its approved repairer advising it that YOU dont have to pay any excess to them. Its a case of dropping it off (picking up a hire car at the other guys expense) and then picking it up when its ready.
All the finance side is dealt with by insurance company.
I doubt the repair garage would go along with your idea of just getting alloy refurbed , Insurance compainies tend to use large chains of garages for the repairs and these sorts of companies dont do back handers.
Anyway hope they do a good job matie.
