    Default 2006 sri 1.8 16v, won't heat up!

hi all, my beloved 1.8 sri gets to normal running temp then drops to cold, right to the bottom then strugles to get 2mil above cold,

any ideas, before a guy in a vauxhall overall sucks his teeth and charges me a fortune!

Highly likely to be a faulty thermostat, which is stuck in the open position. Whilst winter time can cause engines to take longer to heat up, once they're at the correct operating temperature the needle should never drop to the bottom reading again while the engine is running.
