    Default pay at the pump for petrol ?

    has anyone else noticed the amount your allowed to spend at these type of pumps is now £99 !? i seem to remember that when these pumps first came out the max spend was £60 ! how times change

    some still only authorise £59

    yeah had noticed that...depressing isn't it. How long before its £150

    When Safeway first installed self-service unattended pumps in the mid-1990s the limit was £50
    Petrol at the time was 40p per litre

    The limit is set by the card issuer
    For most Debit cards the limit has only recently been raised from £50 to £100
    For Credit cards and Fuel cards the limit varies between £100 and £250

    I remember going up north once and stopping to refuel, and there was a sign on each pump saying "payment MUST be made at the kiosk BEFORE fuel is dispensed". I went inside and asked if that was for real, the attendant looked at me, looked out the window at my car, and said "Nah, you're ok, go ahead".

    We're quite forgetful "up north" people would drive off and forget to pay.

    at my local morrisons its £120 it use to be £90 tho
