    Default blanking plate

cars not very well pulls great to 3000 revs but then theres an awful vibration from the engine and a lack of powerful acceleration. for a 2.2 very slow, some think egr if so got a blanking plate, but do you have to get it remapped?

Some think its a valve sticking, while ive been told it could be fuel related, surely someone out ther must have had the same problem and knows what it is PLEASE.

Right, if you blank the EGR alone you still have to have the EGR plugged into the loom. This is because the ECU only monitors the actual movement of the valve, if the valves not there then it throws a fit, and because of this the EGR has to be working properly.

Alternatively you can blank the EGR, totally remove it and have the dealer Tech 2 it out (around 55 to 70 quid).

There is one more option however and it will cost you an extra £10. If you visit the shop on the 2.2 forum (z22se.co.uk) you can buy a little box of tricks made by one of the mods (Vocky). All you have to do is blank the EGR, totally remove it from the car and where it plugs into the loom just plug in the Cheater, this fools the ECU into thinking its still working perfectly.

Blanking your EGR will cause you to lose some MPG, but only very slightly.

Personally, I would just take off the EGR and give it a good clean, and make sure it works like THIS when you pass 12v over pins A & E.

This is how mine looks blanked.

As you can see the EGR is still bolted to the side of the mount, this is so its not flying around inside of the engine bay and its still plugged into the loom, and its offset so the plunger can still freely move up and down without getting caught on the casting.

Yes mate, but this only works on the 2.2 petrol, Unfortunately not on yours mate. Its just a solenoid, that pushes a plunger into a hole in the block.
