Default fault code 1483 and 1482

been on a 300 mile round trip the last few days and the car drives faultless. however on 3/4 occasions, the spanner light would come on and then go off no more than 10 secs later. i done the pedal test and it flashed up the codes 1483 and 1482, which i have found out is related to the fan. what could the problem be?
i recently changed the stat as it wasnt working (not sure how long for) and it heats and cools spot on now, could it be linked to this problem? my thinking is the fans havent been working correctly for the time stat was broken, and now it is maybe the fans need freeing up or the wiring connections may need cleaning

car gets up to around 85-87, and at its warmest gets to around 92, but then it cools down again (assume the fan is coming on) and settles at 85-87 again, so all seems to be working correctly

    any suggestions?
    thanks in advance

I am having similar problems, intermittant spanner light, codes p1481,1482. Definately radiator fan, as the only time the intermittant spanner light stopped was when my thermostat and temp sensor weren't working (so fan was never triggered). I wonder if its something to do with fan having been unused for a while,as you suggest? I have tried wd40 on hub of fan, and cleaning fan ECM connector. Put p1481 into the search bar, and a couple of useful threads will come up. A lot of people seem to cure these codes by replacing or tinkering with fan ECM, which is above and on the battery side of radiator, there is one of those connectors with a slider. I will post a link to the thread if I can work out how to do it on my phone.
I'm trying not to worry about mine as car is running fine, not overheating, and fan seems to work as it should. Spanner light is annoying tho.

the connector is one with a slide out clip; since I fiddled with mine the other day, the spanner light came on almost constantly. I had another look today and realised I hadn't closed the slider fully until it clicked. Not seen spanner since, but sometimes I don't see it for a while anyway. Time will tell
The thing that puzzles me is that it doesn't seem to have any connection to when the fan kicks in. It would make more sense if the spanner light came on when the coolant temp rose to 90 and the cooling fan comes on. But its totally random.

its one of those problems at the moment as its so rare it coming on and so quick to go off, that although i know what the codes are telling me, it could take a while to sort.
i would rather the light on perminant, i fix the problem, light goes out, jobs a good 'un! lol
