    Default DIY detailers Sun Gun!

Yes I know that this is in the comedy section, but if you didn't laugh then you would worry about the electrical safety of just twisting the wires together and covering with insulation tape!

    OMFG

230v through insulating tape should be......interesting....... Quite a good project considering the prices of those sun guns.

£43 for a bulb is a joke, someone's laughing at that one and making £42.01 profit to boot too.

I'd be very worried about the insulating tape - I'd at least use solder and heat shrink, the wires on the metal bracket, way too close, should cut out slots for clearance - and the point about the glue melting was a good one! Very Heath Robinson, more than likely to blow up in use.

the high amount of heat produced from a gu10 lamp will cause major problems in no time and ffs use through crimps instead of just twisting the cables together...not very safe at all

Asda sells 7-LED compact torches that run on three AAA batteries. They have a magnet in the base, a hook to hang them from and cost £2.50 (batteries extra). I'm going to stock up on them! I'll get a photo of mine later. It's really impressively bright. I can light up about a quarter of my garden with it.
