Diesel or petrol?
Hey dude. I have a 06 2.2 sri auto, its a great car to drive smooth with good power delivery. Things to look for is the fuel pump-check if its the siemens one, if so you may get some problems along the line. Make sure its had the fuel pressure regulator recall done-call vx dealership with reg and vin they will tell u if its been done or not. The only real other common problem is the timing chain tensonier- listen to the engine and make sure no funny noises from left side of engine.
Other than that great car, all cars have common faults but I put this down to you only ever hear the bad bits lol. Mine has done 42k miles and fingers crossed only had recall done. Oh and MPG around town I get about 28 motorway last week i averaged 38, so not toooo bad for a petrol.
Oh and make sure its got good service history, the 2.2 engine needs regular oil changes with the correct grade, I do mine every 8k miles its the best preventative maintenance you can do......
All the best mate
Cheers for that scotty, yes it is the petrol, not 2.2 dti
Make sure the recall has been done on the cam chain oil lubricating nozzle. Early 2.2 Petrols had a narrow nozzle that didnt lubricate the chain enough which lead to the chain drying out and snapping. I believe there was a recall done to fit bigger nozzles. Vauxhall will be able to tell you if its been done or not by giving them the VIN Number.
What exact 2.2 petrol is it? Hatch? Reg? There are different types of 2.2.
the small nozzle on the cam chain is only a prob when non vx oil filters are used and non regular oil changes.its the non vx filters that break down and the paper blocks the nozzle. the 2.2direct was supposed to be fitted with the bigger nozzle but wine was not.hth
