Default April fuel duty rise - £6.50 a gallon!

yes thats £1.44 a litre! There is a fuel duty rise coming in April unless pressure stops the chancellor adding 1p per litre plus inflation!

Some news sites say this could rise fuel by 5ppl, add in the fact that Libya could well be about to self destruct - 85% of their oil supplies go to Europe - all add to the brise of crude rising

So the people on here who are obsessed by MPG figures better start to drive a bit more carefully!

    Crappy news link

    and another

edit: just read the title, looks like the duty rise is £6.50 a gallon, not the overall price
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Its one of those things and out of our control.

Just start using your car for business purposes as I get a nice 40p per mile back from HMRC each year so my V Power costs me like 90p lol.

Its not really worth it in the short term, If you loose £1000 changing your car for a poorer spec diesel or 1.8 that averages 35mpg over your 26mpgish? Its something like 15000 miles to get that money back. Do the sums very carefully before you change.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

+1 for fuel prices annoying the hell out of me. Even at 45mpg, £75+ to fill up is a joke. Even the politicians recently said Britain was overpriced. You dont say! It has been for ages you muppets.

Something needs to be done. It's getting to the point where peoples' finances are being crippled by the need to get to work. I, for one, cannot get to work on public transport and anyway, fares must also rise if transport costs are increasing so fast.

    Grrrrr...
