confused will disconnecting battery lose/reset my remap??

    Hi folks,
had my DMF/clutch/CSC replaced today and the car has been running odd ever since.......just wondering if it is the remap reinstating its values and relearning or if there is a chance the map has been wiped??
they only disconnected the battery to get to the top oft the gearbox so not sure they could've done much harm unless the alterations by the map were affected, and values have been reset to newbie.
only mechanical works carrieds out- not tech 2 in sight so I am all flustered.
car has been dropping into limp mode when i boot it- though becoming less frequent despite my continuing to give it stick.......

    any ideas my learned friends????

the map is stored in ecu (non volitile memory) its written to the chip

disonnecting the battery will just cause the ecu to lose the adaptives it has already learnt ... then it will need to relearn your driving style and will take 100-150 miles to settle down again

No disconnecting a battery won't lose a map, remember a map is just the original settings changed.

If you were to lose a map everytime the battery were disconnected then every car would do it, not just re-mapped ones.

Regarding the op's question. Has everything been plugged back in when being put together?

Disconnecting the battery doesn't cause the ECU to lose/wipe/change a map, any more than removing the battery from your laptop causes your computer to lose the operating system.

A trick that used to work for me with my old classics, was loosen the battery clamps, put a jump lead on the battery terminal, other end on clamp , both sides(+ to +, - to -), gives you a bit of wriggle room to move the battery.

cheers for all the replies. So much as i'd thought and hoped lol. Will speak to the garage in the a.m as they were closed before i made it home this evening. Done about 100 miles since i got it back and it's settling a little but will pop back to themt to get it sorted if it is still doing it tomorrow.

Oh yea- its the eds map. Got it from regal. :-)

And any ideas what they might of failed to connect- i'm not a tech type- i'm more a woodcarver ;-)
