2.0DTi still available in Vec-C

Was going down the motorway yesterday, got behind a 06 plate Vec-C Energy with the 2.0DTi engine. He stupidly thought he could race me with his GSi spoiler and his Irmscher wheels, that didn't last long but that's a different story.

Anyway, I thought the 2.0DTi was long gone?

Probably old stock, 2.0 DTi is not inproduction anymore, I was our local caravan dealer a few weeks back, I was collecting my caravan.

A guy in a Vectra C Elite complete with towbar, said to me, "mmmmm a 1.9 Diesel, you want to try the bigger 2.0 DTi, it flies"

He looked somewhat puzzled when I pulled out with my van on the back and piped up " A bit of a big van for an underpowered 1.9, I can't pull that much with my bigger 2.0"

After explaining that the 1.9 had 50bhp more than his and nearly 50lb/ft more he looked a bit bemuzed!!!

Especially when I out accelerated him on the dual carriagway with my van on and him on his own, I did'nt have the heart to tell him it was mapped.

You get some that dont get registered etc, i.e they are used internally by the manufacturer at the factory, then when the time comes to dispose of it it gets a new plate, mate of mine had an R reg 405 a while back, and the 406 was available on an N plate.

I've seen some 06 plate pre-facelifts about, obviously old stock. How do they compare to the facelift of the same age future value wise, or even a 55 facelift?

My Astra just has "DTI" on the bootlid, so I think Mr Vectra must have thought it was a 1.7. I think he probably knows different now.

well they got 16000 old corsa to get rid so expect some good deals and late late reg's as the new new one is out next week some time .............

i love my 2.0 dti , second one ive had too ;i ran my vec b estate just short of 200k and it only ever had minor faults (well ancillary probs) , the eco is good too, i get between 38 and 42 around town and 50+ on motorways , i could have gone for the common rail option , but i decided on the engine that gave me minimal fuss for the past 6 yrs
