Default Blocked breather? and excessive oil in plenum. 3.2 v6

After elimating headgasket failure as te cause for excessive white smoke i checked my breather pipe to see if it was blocked, which im not 100% certain but i think it is... Reason being that i could only really get to one end of it without the need to remove alot of things but it was deffinately gunged up and when i started the engine there was slight smoke coming through the breather on the intake end. Shall i have this replaced?

After checking the breather i thought id check the plenum as i know i have a fairly bad oil leak from what seems to rocker and from what ive been told. Upon removing the cover the plenum had an very thick build up of dried up oil and a bit of wet. Is this cause for concern?

    Cheers guys

On all of the GM V6's (2.5, 2.6, 3.0 & 3.2) blocked breathers are a common problem and the increase in pressure they create causes the rocker cover gaskets to fail.

On the V6s as installed in the Omega (i.e. longitudinally) there isn't just one breather pipe, there are several components, so when you say you've checked THE breather pipe, you may be missing some bits out.

    Cheers pal

Anyone have diagrams to where the full system leads etc then? or info? as bit of a pain to even get to the other end of the pipe that goes along the front

This is how to clean the breathers on the Omega's V6s. Not sure how much use it is to you though, as most of it involves the plenum - which is the item most different on the longitudinally and transverse mounted versions of the V6s. Have a read anyway.

Same here, signs of oil leaking round the cam covers. Car's 8 years old and getting on to 80K miles, so due for new spark plugs. Gonna have a go at fitting new gaskets and unblocking breathers at the same time. Looks like an involving job, so would probably cost a bit at a garage?
