    Default Eagle NCT5 V Uniroyal Rainsport 2

    chaps,

I'm probably one of the few who like the Eagle NCT5 however, I have read on here that the Uniroyal is a far better tyre. I am sure the drone at the rear is down to my NCT5s getting down to 3mm. I'm contemplating getting a full new set of Rainsports rather than 4 new NCT5s.... So my questions are:

What miles do you get off a set of fronts?
Do you get any tyre drone?
Could they lower my mpg which is at 54?

and because I'm a tart, does anyone have a photo or six of some Rainsport 2 tyres on a facelift SRI standard alloy??...

    ta in advance!

My fronts were put on the back after something like 10,000 or 11,000 miles with 5mm of tread remaining. They've done another 10,000 miles since then and probably have 4 mm left on them.

I don't get any tyre droan.

No differrence in MPG. I still get around 27 to 28 mpg from my 2.2 petrol auto on urban runs. 35'ish on motorways.

The biggest improvement is that I don't get that feeling the car is going to fall off the road when going around a bend anymore since getting shot of the NCT5's for the Rainsports.

My NCT 5's are on 27,000 miles, been swapped around.

Have not noticed anything bad about grip, noise. What pressure you running. I am on the Eco setting 38psi.

    Have not used Rainsports.

Normally have had Michelin. Depending on what price I can get them for.

I will be looking to replace mine in the next 6 months.

I have Rainsport 2's on mine, very quiet and more confident with them on compared to the ER30's I had before

I always run on Handbook recommended tyre pressures (33/34psi) - I've tried harder settings but find the steering becomes too light and the car is unpredictable with higher pressures. I'd not chance swaying from manufacturers for safety reasons.

    I liked the NCT
I could not really see why some do not.
However the uniroyal 2 is better tyre in all respects, except I do (bit of a wild guess) expect the uniroyals to wear a fraction quicker than the goodyear.

Funny, I've just fitted some alloys I bought last week that have two NCT5 with 3mm left that I've fitted to the rear - I don't get any droning. I know droning cos the WANLI's that were on the car when I bought it droned like no one's business!

Don't get any droning from my NCT5's either and they only have 3mm on the rear too. Actually I noticed they are far quieter than the Cheap new tyres that were on the back.
