    Default Speakers

I want to upgrade my front and rear speakers to components but which ones should I go for? I want something that will fit in where the old ones are and have not to much messing around to get them in.I want to just change the sound a little to give a bit more bass without the distortion. I may even consider a sub and amp. All advice welcome Thanks

ave you got a standard h/unit? if so then changing that will make a huge difference.

if you don't want to go down the route of changing the h/unit then i'd say the best bet is the active sub option like a few members have done and tuck into the cubby hole in the boot.

the standard speakers are very good IMO, and so a sub would aleviate them of any bass duties and let them concentrate on the higher frequency sounds.

don't forget, if you have the CDC40 you get tap off the wiring loom as the multi block at the back of the radio has sub + & - and you can get the CDC40 tech 2'd to activate the sub controls.

I got some component Alpine type 'R' in the front of mine (17cm) but i did cut a little bit of the door to line them up ok as the hole is 3/4 round with a flat bit at the bottom (also only about 3mm behind speaker when the window is down ). Put 17cm Type 'R' in the rear as well but they were a doddle (Not component though just dual cone). Got a double din Kenwood dvd player at the front.

Also whacked a couple of 12" type 'R' Subs in a sealed box with a couple of ALpine amp's in the spare wheel well (Tyre weld is now my friend lol) and a Stinger battery in the cubby hole on the right with a split charge relay topping that up.

Sounds good (only been in there since Sunday) but the boot lid rattles like a b*tch its not in the boot but the lock that holds boot shut

Gotta add this, I once and only once bought a brand new car, it was a 405 and at the time I had this thing bling'd up before most ppl had thought about it on a new car, I added 405 badges to the door rub strips just like most cars have now, put Pug ones on all 4 mudflaps, car was white so I got some then SRi wheel trims and had them sprayed white and detailed the veins in black, and also had the slated panel between the rear lights painted white, guess what Pug did when the facelifted it? yup made the boodlid meet the bumper in body colour, and finally i had her running lower profiles at the front than the back, and as one young lady said to me as she got in....quote....CORRR this cars well pumped up mate!

Anyway, inside I made 3 mods, one was the all the rage fluffy seat covers in black diamonds, the second was to ditch the Pug radio cassette and replace it with a Kenwood unit and the third to replace all four door speakers with Kenwood ones, guess what? no sound difference at all, all I got for my then £80 was a hole in the wallet, so i recommend the sub route for anyone wanting a bit more, seems the makers put good quality speakers in anyway.

And i'm sorry I cant post pics off it, I only ever photographed it once with another white one my mate bought a week later and trusted trueprint to develop them, and got back some xmas party shots, customer services wouldn't answer the phone and they were lost forever.

heh!?!?!i'm confused ....don't you mean you uploaded them onto your pc and then printed them off at home!?

what's all this "developing" business about then?!?

was that some fancy gadget they had back in the ??'s

good thing it was a white car Ian....wouldn't have been able to capture the colour of the car otherwise on a black and white print!
