    Default Calling VX Master Technicians

Could any Vx Master Techs let me know if there is a workshop manual that you are supposed to use as a guide when undertaking any work. For example for a 2.0DTI 2002-2005, is there a recommend way to test the thermostat? I would be emmensely grateful if you could PM me with a photo(taken on mobile phone perhaps) from said book.
If there is no such book, then is there any "official" printed instructions for testing a thermostat.
I have found an easy way of doing so, on this website, but I do need some official document to take my local garage to task.
    Thanks in anticipation.

Just drop it in boiling water.

Its not rocket science and the garage should know how to test one.

Haynes Manual? Brilliant idea. Went and got one. Nothing in there at all. In fact Haynes uses a different diesel engine to the 2002-2005 as described on the front cover. Worst manual I have ever seen. Quite a few sub-standard pictures.
Any other suggestions from the Forum? Desperately need an "official testing of a thermostat" so that I can take the garage to court.

I doubt theres any "official" workshop literature or code of conduct in printed form with precise instructions for what a workshop technician must adhere to for testing a thermostat.. Its basic savvy, like LeeGSI said, its just plopped in boiling water..

If its ok to ask, what actually happened with your garage that has got you mad with them?

VX Loughton charged me £180 pound to test my thermostat. I can't let them get away with this robbery. They didnt take out the thermostat, or even drive the car around in the middle of December(with snow on the ground) when the temperatures drops two notches on the gauge if you turn the blower on 2. The stat was replaced last March 2010 with a genuine Vx part. They said the sender was ok, and it "was operating normally" after they had it running in the workshop for over one hour! They said I needed a new instrument panel, but "couldnt guarentee if this would solve the problem" So one minute they say its "running normally" and in the next breath say "couldnt guarantee if this would solve the problem". Without some sort of official test procedure to challenge them, I would not succeed in the Small Claims Court.
When I had it changed in March, and the weather was cold, the engine warmed up in 4 miles, and got heat inside the cabin within 1-2 miles, then in November, back to 25 mins to warm up. I ended up with a chest problem for 2 months.
By the way, what page in the Haynes manual does it explain about testing the thermostat? I couldnt find it.They are showing an earlier 2.0 DTI in the pictures, but mine is a later 2002 model.
Thanks for everybodys help regarding this !

Did you have a "bible" that you refered to for a Vectra C, 2.0 DTI. And was there an official test procedure for a theromstat? Please say yes, and can you ask a mate to take picture on his mobile of the said page?

I take it your referring to TIS 2000 as the Bible?

    Mods, yes I know....
