What car to choose?

Evening everyone,

I currently drive a 03 1.8 elegance and the time to change is upon me. I spend alot of time on the motorway but get mileage paid for so petrol vs diesel isn't really a big issue for me.

I have seen 2 vectra's, the first a 1.8 vvt sri with 80k on a 07, full dealer history and the second is a 56 1.9 cdti 150 sri with 80k and full dealer history. The 1.9 has also just had the dmf and clutch replaced by the dealer.

The petrol is up for £4,395 with the diesel £5,395.

My main question is what problems could I expect to face from either. They will be both due a timing belt change soon aswell.

Any help would be appreciated guys.

if it was me i would go for the petrol
but the mileage is a little high for me. i normal buy around 20000 miles

i found the above for you which is based on that mileage
i would rather get it for the private price

Thanks for the reply. To be honest I was concerned about the mileage also. I have since opted to move from the vauxhall brand and get something a little less family.

You'll get slightly less mpg with the vvti than the 16v you already have and the 1.9 has had the most expensive part replaced, but there's no guarantee how long it will last before the next one is required. How many miles do you do a year?

They are both over priced for me. There is so many better cars out their.
