    Default Cutting out!

I have just had a problem getting the my 04 Vec GSi to idle without giving it some revs from startup. This has never happened before the car always runs like a dream and has only covered 11500 miles. There is no fault lights on the dash and eveything else is fine. I took it for spin and intially it would'nt take the throttle very well for about 100 yards, then it was fine and pulled ok when warm. Although I noticed it didnt feel quite as lively sub 3000 revs as usual. When I returned home I opened the bonnet to have a listen and the top end sounded a bit ticky. If I put my motor in for a health check at my local vx dealer will he have to supply me a courtesy car through my warranty anyone know? Also I bought my car in Yorkshire and live in Scotland so hope happy will my local dealer be about doing warranty work?

I can't answer any questions about your problem Mike, but if your local dealer isn't happy about being paid by Vx to do some warranty work then take it elsewhere!!

Likewise, If you have a VX warranty you can approach any dealer to carry out the work. My GSi came form Kent and I live in south Beds. Have never had a prob in this respect.

As for the Idling, if you don't get the spanner light then I would look towards the valve clearance's being affected by the oil draining back overnight from the hydraulic lifters. If it was a sensor or a soleniod valve you would get the fault light. How long until it's due a service??
