Default Steering Stiffer to turn to the right than left.

Anyone got any ideas as to what would cause the steering to be stiffer turning to the right than to the left?

    This is on a 55reg 1.9cdti.

Does the car drive in a straight line if you let go of the wheel or does it pull?

Had a similar issue. Juddery in both directions and stiffer to right than left. Topped up fluid and it was much better. Changed fluid and now like new

I assume tracking has been checked on yours?

No more than I would expect although it's a little difficult to tell with trying to find a level bit of road.

I don't get the juddering but, the fluid does want topping up a little, difficult to tell when the only opportunity so far to check has been on a sloping drive.

Have now booked it in to my local dealer to check the front end and to ensure the subframe is aligned ok, camber is correct and that the tracking is as it should be and that nothing is bent. it seems to drive straight and break straight, no untward noises on lock to lock and it is smooth, just stiffer turning left. Car has only done 32k.

I an hoping it's nothing serious and just like you have experienced, the fluid just wants changing. Looks like it's the green fluid, I assume that's correct and not the red stuff.

tyre wear looks even although that's not to say tracking isn't out.

Right, car is back from the dealers, no steering faults found. They did give the car the once over and all came back ok. So, I'm going to be changing the fluid at the end of the month.

Not done the tracking for the moment, spent over £300 as they also did the front nearside bearing as well.
