Default Fuel leaking from inlet manifold

Hi i am a new vectra owner and new to the forum this morning.

    I purchased a 2004 sri cdti 150 yesterday.

After getting it home 100 miles from home last night i noticed number 4 injector leaking. After sorting that today i have also noticed there are 4 plastic caps on the inlet manifold near to the glow plug area.

2 of these seem to be leaking fuel. I dont have a clue what these are and wondered if they are simple to replace?

I appreciate all your help in advance

I have been looking at it today. After wiping away all the leaked fuel and testing i have found that if i take it nice and easy no fuel seems to be leaking anywhere. But if i give the car some heavy right foot i then find that all underneath the common rail is soaked. It seems to me as its running down from common rail down to glow plug area. If any one could shed some light i would be really grateful. I understand i might need new manifold but want to be 100% sure

    Thanks

It isn't fuel - as this is a directly injected engine - however the 4 pots you have found are the bearings of the swirl flaps. These wear excessively on the original manfiold and allow soot and oil to escape. Oil comes from the breather and turbo in the intake system. New manifold is needed.

Probably not the inlet manifold but the injector return pipes, they are on top of each injector and are all connected together and run on a pipe towards the back of the engine.

I've noticed the same problem,in that there seems to be clear liquid,(diesel?),in the swirl pot valve wells.I suppose this is coming from the leaking swirl valves?.The only thing that confuses me is that it seems to be neat diesel. FELIXX.

thanks for the help. i thought it could be oil but thought it would be black rather than a diesel colour. Will i do much damage if i drive it without changing the manifold til next month? I suspected my rail may possibly be cracked as its wet all the way along under neath it

The CDTI is direct injected so diesel is not coming from the bust swirl flaps. It will be oil vapour or the leak pipes from the injector plugs as plasma has stated. Did you not have your manifold changed?

no only bought the car last night beginning to regret it now lol Picked it up 100 mile away last night and was fine until today when started leaking. I have chaned the one leak off pipe today because it was wet but made no difference, will change the rest tomorrow.

No.I've still got it in the garage.I was waiting until it went in for it's annual service and get them to inspect it etc. They came back with a negative, but,as the service ended up as a comedy of errors,I have no confidence whatsoever in their conclusion,so it's back to square one.To be honest though, although there is a little gunge as well around the valve seats, the car is driving well and there seems no loss of power or any symptoms associated with a knackered manifold other than this problem. What do you reckon?,should I wait until it's on it's knees with the swirl bar off,or carry on regardless?.FELIXX.
