Think its the same as any body shop really, the finish is only as good as the particular guy thats turns up on the day. As above though, i have seen good work from a chips away guy that did a neighbours car.

I've used Chipsaway before, and was very happy with the work and cost.

However, you need to see what work your local Chipsaway place has done, as they're all franchises.

Just cause the chap who did the work for me is good, don't assume your local guy is the same standard. He could be worse, or better.

I had a very bad experience with chipsaway 2 year ago. I had an MG TF that was a cat D and had a bit of paint that had peeled away under the head light. I asked them if it could be done or if i'd need to respray the whole bumper, of which he assured me it could be done and also said he'd sort of some minor scratches around my car (mainly on boot).

In end he ended up making a MASSIVE muck up and damaged all my bumper due to more paint peeling with the tape he had used. Now i thought fair enough, the paint was crap... BUT he still charged me £90! Not to mention the huge overspray he had done on the boot. He had patched off a area for the scratches on the boot but clearly hadn't used enough plastic to prevent overspray and the colour match was as far away the shade of blue as you can get.

End result was that i was £90 down to that ****** and cost me a full respray. He accepted no liability at all

As said, it depends on the skill of the franchisee...

I had my local guy repair some damage to an alloy wheel that occurred during transit when i bought them new, and the repair was a different colour to the original alloy colour, the metallic flake was different and he also didnt laquer it!!!

Ive used my local guy, much cheaper if you contact them direct than via the franchise, also if they can do your car in a garage on a rainy day when they would otherwise have no work. Charged me £50 last visit but did bits on 3 cars all different colours.
