Hmmm don't want to risk it but for the price of making it costs like 30p a lit to make once you buy the kit for roughly 200quid methanol is 20quid for 25 litres and caustic soda is 6quid for 10kg and veg oil is free from my local chippy

In theory biodiesel should work on a compressed ignition car as long as it's not just pure oil and made properly with filtered oil and correct ratios of methanol and then mixing it 50/50 with diesel

Hmmmmm don't know now lol it's alot of money I it goes wrong but I can't see how it would really if you think about it logically

The 50/50 mix won't block the filter as I would of already put k through a 10micron filter

The oil and methanol won't effect the seals as it's mixed in all together

And it would run the same

Also it would not effect the pump as it won't be thick like oil it will be the same viscosity as diesel

Top Gear had a challenge where they raced the BMW 330d with Bio deisel and the pump seals were apparently chewed the first time the used it. Don't know what they did to run the car on the stuff though.

iv used this in my signum it hated it was like a tank no pull nothing ages to start i just drand tank and filled up with diesel had to do 2 tanks to make it bck to normal and it blockedc my intank pump twice so i dont use it my cdti hated it and it clings to your tank to just to add.

just use diesel or get a small engine car but bio diesel in a cdti is not good may as well call it clang bang diesel

OK Winnie, one thing to keep in mind, this is an open forum and the tax man will be very interested in you if you use veg oil from a chippy. A few years back a guy in the Chesterfield converted his Merc to run on veg oil as he got it free from the canteens where he worked, steel factory in Sheffield I think, anyway, he was stopped one day by a ministry guy who then reported it back and the tax man gave him a £5000 bill for back tax and penalties for not declaring it. Have a look here:

Veg oil is in the same tax band as sulfer free diesel and since your car would smell of fish and chips any PC in Norfolk would be able to smell you at 100 yards, no offence mate.
Have a poke around Google there are some cracking stories about people being caught using cooking oil.

Winnie, there is a mix ratio that will be fine I think it is around 20% but cannot back this with fact at the moment I do think 50/50 is a touch ambitious in all truth but hope to be proved wrong as it would be to all our benefit.

I do recall reading that injectors get screwed and the pump takes a serious PMT attack but need to read up on why I think this.

Its main reason for not being a viable option for the CDTi is the pump. Bio doesn't have the lubrication properties of straight diesel and its the CDTi's HP pump that relies heavily on these properties.

Veg oil you can't. Every litre is taxable.
