    Default 2.2dti turbo screwed?

I had my service done a couple of weeks ago so didn't bother checking the oil on my 180 mule trip from Plymouth to swansea. Passing through Cardiff my low oil light came on. I pulled in to the next service station and topped up with oil. I started looking for an oil leak and noticed an oil patch on ther inter cooler which made me think the oil may have come out of a hole on inter cooler. I also checked my home made inter cooler hose and it had oil leaking out where the metal elbow met the silicone hose.

I know the turbo blows some oil vapour through the system but there was shed loads of oil on the hose. I think my turbo may be screwed. It still pulls well and I haven't noticed and noises apart from a small sqweek at 70mph. I'll have to wait til I get home tomorrow to take the hose off that goes into the turbo to have a look inside the turbo. I'm reall worried it's new turbo time. What is the price if a new turbo it a reconditioned one?

If oil is leaking from intercooler then you will need a new intercooler too mate as you will be loosing boost

A brand new turbo from Vauxhall is subject to exchanging yours aswell is

    295 quid for a 2.0dti engine

Or 487 for a cdti if you are a full member on here you get trade club discount which takes it down a bit

Thought someone would have pointed out that thats not your intercooler

That's your air con condensor and mine is the same

When you say there is shed loads of oil, where are you looking. It's normal up to a point to have oil in the pipes and obviously over the years it will build up.

I need to give my intercooler a clean this year

If you look at the 2nd photo you can see fresh oil pooled on the clip around the big blue silicone intercooler hose where it meets the metal pipe. I only fitted the new t-bolt clamp 2 weeks ago and it was all clean.

Had the car MOT'd and asked them to check the Turbo to see if its the cause of my oil loss.

The car passed the MOT and they said the turbo was fine. They said I had over filled it and that might have set the sensor off but I pointed out that they had filled it with oil 2 weeks ago when they serviced it! Any way when I did top it up (after the light had come on) they said I had over filled it so they drained out the oil. We'll have to see if I get the low-oil warning again.

Does anyone one know the tolerance for the low-oil light to come on? how much does it loose before it comes on?
