Default Brakes from eBay. Any good?

    Hi all.

I need to change my brakes and discs on my Vectra and have seen a full set of pads and discs, front and rear, for around £85 on ebay Inc delivery. Has anyone bought these before and are they up to scratch or sub standard? My mechanic mate said he can't get a full set for less than that at trade so is it really too good to be true? Any experiences or comments greatly appreciated.

    Chris.

Vauxhall dealers sell "disk and pad kits" for the same price as that or cheaper, so forget ebay and visit your dealer. Make sure they're pricing up the "kit" though, not a set of pads plus a set of disks, as individually they're more expensive.

And that'll also save you posting a thread in a months time saying that your new pads are squeeling

I dont think its possible to get a set front and back from Vauxhall for £85 ,

my bro got all round set for Freelander off ebay and the do the job.

Ya pays ya money ya takes ya choice.

At the end of the day unless you drive like a nutter everywhere the

cheaper option will be ok .

    Not always.

I've previously used cheap pads and discs. Lasted only a third of what OEM ones would last. As they were half the price of OEM, it actually cost more in the long run.

    You do the math.

I wouldnt touch 'em with a barge pole mate. Considering so much Chinese POO car parts are on ebay chances are you'll be buying bits that just won't cut the mustard. Then, one rainy morning, your pads made out of OXO cubes and brittle discs are gonna get you into a world of ****.

Not worth your life, and the lives of others chap

Just my 2p, but it's not the price that matters when it comes down to this stuff.

It depends what you want really, if you want cheap, as said above you'll usually pay twice for the privelage. I'm on the lookout for new dsks and pads all round and am budgeting for about 200 quid. I wouldn't bother with the ebay stuff unless it was a named brand tbh.
