    Default Rev limiter ?

Could my 3.0 v6 have a rev limiter fitted? I goes like snow off a dyke in any gear till it reaches 5000 rpm (I know thats safe for a diesel), then it wont rev any higher.

Redlines at 5000rpm and limits the revs at 5200rpm or so. I wouldn't try that too often though.

It will have an engine speed limiter fitted as all modern diesels do.

I wouldn't be sitting at that limit at all. The only time is when its MOT time and they limit it for a couple of seconds with no load.

The limiter can/will actually be lower if the engine is cold. Mine will not rev above 4000 when cold. Remaps can also do this. For obvious reasons.

All diesels have them something to do with they will happily increase rpm till they explode @ full thottle so the limiter says full throtte = Y rpm .. if Y + 1 rpm occures cut fuel

Deisels actually run out of steam sooner compared to the equivalent petrol. A diesel and petrol with the same capacity have different characteristics. Petrols have larger piston area therefore shoter stroke, diesels have longer stroke, smaller piston area. The result is the deisel will hit its natrual rev limit sooner, because the petrol has to rev more to move the same volume of air.
