    Default on/off switch on CDR2005

My on/off swith seems to be broken and the unit is permanently on. This is not a problem as such as I can simply rotate the switch to to the volume to 'zero' to turn off.

My problem is if the batterey is disconnected I will need to input the radio code. Does anyone know if this is possible with the radio 'on'? The manual says turn off radio before pushing the AS button before inputing the code.

Any suggestions? or do I need a replacement unit! The car is a 52 plate and out of warranty.

Many thanks for your replies. - it is as bad as I thought, although Micks suggestion may be worth a try if it comes to it, otherwise ebay. I just had one more idea though - I believe ftom the manual I might be able to 'docode' the radio in its current state (on) and then if the battery were disconnected, it would not ask for the code and might turn on when reconnected? any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Mike - I've had the same problem with mine twice recently after battery disconection for repairs etc. Take it to VX at the end of a day - I put it to them as "it'll just take two minutes if one of your lads can run out" - and they did. Having said that I found my unit would let me turn it on after battery disconection, even though it would never let me turn it off in normal situations.

Thanks for your advice. No good worrying about it as the worst might not happen! I 'm having an oil filter/oil, fuel filter and spark plug change next week - fingers crossed.
