    Default Please help code p0546 exhaust gas tem sens on 2.0t

    hi all i just had a diagnostic done on my vecta edition 100 i have the z20net engine in my car and it has come back with fault code p0546 exhaust gas temp sensor circuit high voltage or open circuit but i cant seem to find anything regarding this sensor does anyone happen to know what this code may mean and where i can find this sensor on my engine any info will be much appreciated

    Sensor 1 bank 1 (so the sensor nearest the exhaust manifold)

    You have a wire that is getting a +ve voltage when it shouldnt be (refered to as short to positive) or EGT Exhaust Gas Temp sensor is faulty

    thanks for reply but i dont suppose you know what may cause this wire to be receiving this +ve signal thanks

    is this the sensoe that looks similar to a lambda sensor with 4 wires

    I would say it is most likely the sensor faulty

    But most sensors now are heated so a +ve feed could be shorting across to the sensor leads from the heater circuit

    What year is your car as only 03-04 cars have the 3 x sensors on the exhaust system.If you follow the wiring loom to the left of the turbo you will find the plug in the loom.I think my sensor cost me £60 odd .HTH

    hi my car is a 53 plate did you hae the same problem when you sensor went and did replacing it cure it i you did thanks

    the egt sensor is at the bottom of the cat m8, if you look down the back of the block it looks like a lambda sensor but hslf the size and only has 1 wire going too it (had same problem lol)

    you have the egt removed at remap time if your thinking of going donw that route...

    i dont suppose anyone would know how to either test the sensor or bypass it to see if it eliminates the misfire issue or am i best just getting new one? only prob is no one seems to know what it is at any motor factors
