A lot of people go for Eibach springs but personally i didn't find they lowered my old car (B5 Audi A4) that much.
I have PI 45mm springs with standard shocks on my GSi and i'm very happy but at the end of the day it's down to the size of your wallet.
Went with eibachs -30 mm front n rear and they are fantastic. Took the gaps between wheel n arch away and handling is softer over bumps and much better in the bends.
Can't see how folk get away with much lower as mine will scrape on drives etc on these much lower n I think I would be replacing bumpers too often.
This is my 2.0T on B4's and Ebach pro springs

if you like painting your front splitter go low.. I have had to repaint mine already this year and i only lowered 30mm... the roads are bad enough so if i went lower i would need my wheel arches redoing like a few guys on here have had to do..
I have a 45/40 mm drop on my 2.0t.. Also have 45 profile tyres.. No probs unless your parking near kerbs
cheers for the help fella's. debating wether to go 45mm, might look into 30mm
I went 30mm on 19's suits me just fine
